Bright & Fun Fruit Skewers: Fruit Salad on a Stick
Looking for a vibrant, healthy snack that kids and adults alike will love?

By combining sweet, juicy watermelon, tart ripe strawberries, and tangy kiwi, these colorful skewers deliver a rainbow of flavors and a major boost of Vitamin C. Serve them plain or with a light honey-lime dip to take them to the next level!

Prep & Yield Details

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes

  • Total Time: 15 minutes

  • Servings: Makes 8–10 skewers

Ingredients

For the Skewers:

  • 1/2 medium Watermelon or Honeydew Melon (scooped into balls with a melon baller or cut into 1-inch cubes)

  • 1 lb (450g) fresh strawberries, hulled (leaves removed)

  • 3–4 fresh kiwis, peeled and sliced into thick rounds or half-moons

  • 8–10 wooden bamboo skewers (soaked in water or wiped clean)

Optional Honey-Lime Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt

  • 1 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)

  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice

  • 1/2 tsp lime zest

Step-by-Step Instructions

1.Prepare the Fruits:

Rinse all fruits under cool water. Peel the kiwis and slice them into thick rounds (about 1/2-inch thick). Wash the strawberries and remove their green tops. Cut the melon in half, scoop out the seeds, and either use a melon baller to make neat spheres or slice it into bite-sized 1-inch cubes.

2.Assemble the Skewers:

Take a wooden skewer and thread the fruit in an alternating color pattern (for example: melon cube -> strawberry -> kiwi slice -> melon -> strawberry). Repeat until the skewer is filled, leaving about 2 inches at the bottom as a handle.

3.Mix the Honey-Lime Dip (Optional):

In a small serving bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, honey, lime juice, and lime zest until smooth and creamy.

4.Chill and Serve:

Arrange the assembled fruit skewers on a large serving platter. Serve immediately, or cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving for maximum crispness and cooling refreshment.

Pro Tips for Success

  • Firm Fruit Matters: Use ripe but firm fruit so the pieces stay securely on the sticks without sliding off or becoming mushy.

  • Fun Shapes for Kids: Use small cookie cutters to punch out melon pieces into stars or hearts before threading.

  • Kid-Safe Tip: If making these for young toddlers, snip off the sharp pointed ends of the wooden skewers with kitchen shears after assembly.
